Cambridge Roof Truss is delighted to be working closely with Persimmon Homes on their development ‘The Bridge’ at Dartford in Kent.
Situated next to the QEII Bridge and close to the River Thames, The Bridge is the first of the major regeneration projects underway in the Thames Gateway, transforming a 264-acre brownfield site into a dynamic new community for the information age.
The Bridge integrates 1.8 million sq ft of office, science park and industrial space with 1,500 new homes and facilities such as a local shopping centre, a hotel and a Learning & Community Campus. The entire development is set within 80 acres of open space while the different areas are linked by waterways, footpaths, cycle ways and a free public transport system.
Developed in five separate phases, including their ‘Waterways at The Bridge’ phase, Persimmon Homes have built a selection of 2, 3 and 4 bedroom homes, in a variety of styles that are suited to the modern way of living.
Cambridge Roof Truss has been instructed to design and supply roof trusses for all five phases. Roof trusses are the most widely used form of framing in the UK as they provide cost effective and flexible design options, which when manufactured and delivered to site help to minimize the roof installation time compared to traditional methods of building.
Craig West, Persimmon Homes’ site manager at ‘The Bridge’ commented “To ensure that we adhere to our production schedule it is of course vital that our suppliers’ deliver to site exactly the right product, at the requested time. When working with Cambridge Roof Truss, we know that we can rely on them”. James Tothill, the designer at Cambridge Roof Truss worked closely with Space 4 to ensure that a high level of service was achieved at every stage, resulting in a seamless construction process.
